Century Wilshire Hotel Los Angeles: Rodeo Drive And Wilshire Boulevard

For 31-years the Century Wilshire Hotel has stood on Wilshire Boulevard in the heart of Rodeo Drive, offering exceptional service to all its guests- from celebrities to out of town tourists. Even though the hotel is no longer in service, the building still stands on Wilshire Boulevard as a memory of times well had.
The Century Wilshire Hotel, which closed down in late 2006, offered familiar amenities with cozy furnishings to make guests feel at home.
The Century Wilshire Hotel offered air conditioning, fridge, iron, cable and satellite television, daily maid service, Internet access, and kitchens in each room. The higher end rooms came with balconies, and garden or pool views.
Other than the usual amenities, the Century Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles offered both an outdoor and indoor pool, fax service, photocopy service, laundry, dry cleaning service, car rental, and a restaurant in the hotel. Aside from the amenities, the Century Wilshire Hotel was often praised because of its reasonable price and location. It was within walking distance of Rodeo Drive and UCLA, which was helpful for college hopefuls who needed somewhere to stay while checking out their possible college.
The closure of the Century Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles was not a surprise to most people. The hotel, built in 1952, had become run down and could have become unsafe if the staff continued to house guests. Knowing this would happen, the owners acquired a new hotel in Culver City, which they are now advertising.
The former staff of Century Wilshire Hotel now offer guests two other options since the hotel has been shut down. The Culver Hotel, where stars like John Wayne and Clark Gable once called home, allows a similar experience in amenities and atmosphere. On the other hand, the Hotel Beverly Terrace offers a modern feel with bright colored furniture and walls. Its location is also a prime location for shopping and clubs.
Even though the Century Wilshire Hotel no longer admits guests, the memories that many guests accrued over the 31-years will live on. And while a similar experience can be had at nearby hotels, it will never be the same as the Century Wilshire Hotel.
